Welcome - Teaching and Learning

Providing powerful strategies, data, and resources to families, teachers, principals, and educational assistants, resulting in each student learning well, encompasses the main goals of the Teaching and Learning Department.

Our student service offerings encompass a variety of programs for students, including English Learners (EL), Migrant, Title I, Early Learning, AVID and Highly Capable. These services are based upon the same foundation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment provided for all students. In concert with Special Education, Career and Technical Education, and other partners, these offerings constitute a full continuum of student services supporting the Mission of the Moses Lake School District; A caring community dedicated to the success and well-being of all.

Teachers, principals and educational assistants have very challenging jobs. The Teaching and Learning Department offers resources to assist them. We research and guide the selection of district-wide, standards-based instructional materials and programs. In addition, we offer a variety of professional development programs to ensure that highly qualified educational professionals work with students. Content specialists work with teachers to ensure the use of best instructional practices.

The state of Washington has identified learning standards for grades K-12 in a variety of content areas. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Student Success website contains in-depth information and resources related to the Washington State Standards. Please see additional information regarding specific services in the links under Teaching and Learning.
