You Rock!
Congratulations to Park Orchard Elementary First grade teacher Becky Burton. Mrs. Burton is receiving the Moses Lake School District Golden “You Rock” Award for achieving and continuing to meet the district strategic goal of improving math-core instruction. Mrs. Burton is a leader in the use of our district’s new Ready Mathematics curriculum materials. Her class’s current progress toward their annual typical growth has already exceeded 100%, with percentage growth at 107%.
Mrs. Burton has instilled an “I can do it” attitude within her classroom, helping her students believe in themselves, ensuring that every student can succeed in math. Ready Math has built her classrooms foundation for math instruction, and Mrs. Burton stated that “math has been more fun, students are gaining more than they ever have. My students are always talking and thinking math.”
The Moses Lake School District set two strategic goals this year, with one focusing on improving core math instruction across all grade levels. This work specifically targets closing the achievement gap in K-12 mathematics.
