About Remote Learning

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
While this year will certainly look different, what remains the same is how much we can’t wait to connect with you and your students. Our staff has missed seeing your child and is ready to get back to teaching. We've worked hard all summer to improve remote learning based on your feedback:
  • Improved accountability, expectations, and grading
  • Adoption of online-friendly curricula
  • Increased technology and curricula training for teachers
  • Improved communication via District-wide adoption of Remind

We provide a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. Expect about 5.5 hours per day of learning activities or educational engagement. The majority of your child's learning through our Remote program is asynchronous.

Synchronous (Live video, time spent with Instructor)

      • Class meetings
      • Small group lessons

Asynchronous (Assignments, independent learning)

      • “Learning Pathway”
      • Video lessons
      • Reading assignments
      • Workbook pages
      • Research
      • Projects
      • Computer-based activities
Your child’s teacher will have a new “Learning Pathway” in Google Classroom. The “Learning Pathway” will be available by 9:00 am each morning.
Teachers utilize these platforms to communicate with you and with students.
Your child’s teacher will schedule regular class meetings that we encourage all students to attend.

MLSD is excited to provide students with the tools necessary to be successful consumers, producers, and creators of new information in a 21st-century classroom. Our goal is to provide all students in the Moses Lake School District daily and equitable access to a computer to enhance and extend learning opportunities inside, as well as outside the classroom.
