Welcome to Camp 5

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Assistant Principal at Garden Heights Elementary. I am truly honored to become part of the Garden Heights community, which has already given me such a warm welcome!  In just a few interactions I’ve had with staff, students and families so far, it’s become abundantly clear that this school is a unique and special place. I am looking forward to assisting Mr. Ramirez, students, staff and our community in making this a great school year.
I have twenty-one years of experience in education, having worked as a birth-3 teacher, preschool teacher, special education teacher, instructional coach and administrator. Sixteen of those years have been in Moses Lake School District. Working in education inspires me to continue learning and growing both personally and professionally.
In addition to my role as Assistant Principal, I will provide leadership oversight to the new 5th-grade campus. The campus has been created to reduce overcrowding at Garden Heights and Lakeview Elementary Schools. Students from both schools voted in the Spring to name our campus, “Camp Five.” It will be housed in the portable classrooms located south of Chief Moses Middle School. We have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare the classrooms and campus for our Camp Five students, families and staff.
The elementary school years are important and critical times for students.  What happens during these years will have lasting impressions on their growth and development.  My goal as Assistant Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that is safe and respectable, in order for your child to receive the best possible academic instruction. I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. Thank you for entrusting your children to us. I look forward to working together with you to ensure the best educational experience for your children.
I am eager to begin the new year and I am fortunate to be part of the Garden Heights and Camp Five communities! Please contact me to discuss any concerns, suggestions or ideas to help make this year the best year yet!
