Please know that we continue to work with Grant County Health District (GCHD) as Washington State begins the phased process of delivering COVID-19 vaccinations. You may be wondering about your personal eligibility for receiving a vaccination during the current Phase 1A. The qualifying criteria that has been identified is very narrow, but for Grant County school district employees at this time it has been expanded to include:
- School Nurses
- Any staff who have duties related to "COVID/sick" rooms
- Staff who conduct screening for staff or students (defined as screening duties that involve exclusively students with illness or symptoms)
- School staff who are in learning locations where COVID patients could be present and masking is not an option, such as Life Skills classrooms
Your school nurses and building administrators are in possession of an approval letter for you to receive and present to a vaccination site after scheduling if you meet these qualifying factors.
For those of us who do not yet qualify, Washington Department of Health has developed a tool named PhaseFinder that will determine which phase of the state's vaccine plan a resident will be eligible. Access at the link below:
The questions will be modified as we enter into future phases and the qualifying criteria are expanded, so it is recommended that we check back often. Changes in the vaccine distribution are changing frequently.
When the vaccine is more readily accessible and school district employees become eligible during future phases, Moses Lake School District is already working with local pharmacies to offer on-site vaccine clinics for our employees. More details will be shared when additional information is available.
After receiving both doses of COVID-19 vaccine will I be able to throw my mask away?
Unfortunately, the answer is NO. There is currently no indication that preventative safety protocols will be abandoned any time soon in our schools and businesses.
After receiving both doses of COVID-19 vaccine will I be required to quarantine if I am notified of my exposure to a positive COVID case?
YES, MLSD will continue to follow the GCHD quarantining recommendations until further notice.
