Happy Parents Day!
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative. WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures who volunteer at least one day, all day at their child’s school. The Moses Lake School District encourages fathers, and father figures to make a positive impact on our children by volunteering their time to our local schools through this one of a kind program. Moses Lake community member and father Josh Juette, who has been a part of the WATCH D.O.G.S program for a few years now, would encourage any father who is considering the program to join.
When asked what he enjoys most about the program, Juette stated, “you can tell some of the students do not have a positive male role in their life, so having the opportunity to spend time with them is a lot of fun.”
Duties include working with students in their classrooms, playing at recess, eating lunch with students, patrolling school entrances and hallways while assisting with traffic flow, and any other assigned activities where they can actively engage with not only their children, but other students as well.
“One of my favorite memories is going out to recess and playing tag with the kids, they love to chase you and try to take the WATCH D.O.G.S. down. The time you get to spend out with the children is worth a million bucks,” said Juette.
Thank you parents, for your support of the Moses Lake School District and ensuring all MLSD children have positive role models to look up to!
