New Director of Special Services

The Moses Lake School District is pleased to announce that Carolyne Zieske has agreed to terms to become the Director of Special Services and Samantha Burgess has agreed to terms to become the Assistant Director of Special Services for the Moses Lake School District, effective July 1, 2021.

Former Director of Special Services, Dr. Kevin Peterson states, “We feel very strongly that Carolyne’s skills and leadership qualities will be a perfect fit for the Moses Lake School District.” Peterson now fills the role of Executive Director of Student Supports and Continuous Improvement.

In her current role as Assistant Director of Student Support Services at the Stillwater School District in Stillwater Minnesota, Zieske utilizes her extensive experience with inclusionary practices, MTSS, RTI, and PBIS implementation. She also draws on her past experience as coordinator of equity, EL, and federal funds. Prior to district-level experiences, Zieske served as an elementary principal, middle school assistant principal, behavior specialist, and special education co-teacher.

“I have a passion for working in partnership with staff, parents, and the community to support student needs and well-being,” says Zieske. “I am excited for this opportunity to not only serve the Moses Lake District but also to move into the community.” Zieske is transitioning to the Pacific Northwest in preparation for her son attending college in the Seattle area a year from the fall.

Burgess brings over 7 years of teaching experience– including four years as a K-5 special education resource room teacher with the Moses Lake School District. Her talent and hard-working attitude made her a top contender for the Assistant Director of Special Services position.

Please join the Board of Education and Moses Lake School District in welcoming Carolyne Zieske and Samantha Burgess to their new position.
