Student Tips for Success
  • Set up a dedicated work space with appropriate supplies.
  • Set up a dedicated time to do at least 4 hours of school work every school day.
  • Take breaks if needed and/or incorporate breaks into your schedule.
  • Follow the assigned dates in your classes, and you won’t get behind.  Work ahead whenever you have extra time.
  • Don’t skip a day–skipping an online school day means you have given yourself less days to complete the same amount of hours.
  • Develop a motivation system that works for you whether it is rewards, a checklist or another system. You must treat school like a job–not going is not an option.
  • Take notes!  You can do this in the program with e-notes, use the guided notes or take your own.
  • Review your notes before taking tests and quizzes.
  • Ask for help from the content teachers when you don’t understand something.  Your mentor teacher can help you arrange that.
  • Make plans to come in to take your tests as soon as you get to one.
  • Handle tech issues immediately so you don’t have down time.
  • Contact your mentor teacher when you have an issue you need help with.

Parent Tips for Student Success
  • Make sure your student has a dedicated work space with necessary materials.  A printer might be nice but isn’t necessary.  Guided notes can either be printed at home or the mentor teacher can copy and provide them.
  • Make sure your student has at least four hours a day without distractions to do their school work.
  • Help students set a time each day to do their work.
  • Help your student(s) by holding them accountable to get their work done every day. You can access their progress through the parent portal, emails from Edgenuity, and by looking at Edgenuity with them on their Chromebook.  Some students are self motivated,  others may need you to help them stay on track with these checkins.
  • Edgenuity assigns each student a certain amount of work each school day to stay current.  Require your student to finish that work each day.  Help them develop a motivation system.
  • Help students solve tech issues as soon as possible so they don’t lose time.
  • Contact your student’s mentor teacher when you have concerns so you can work together on a solution.
  • Have your student add you to their mentor Google Classroom and the counselor’s Google Classroom to stay current with announcements and important information.
  • Make sure students have time and opportunity for exercise and socializing.  Doing Digital at home can be isolating.  Digital students can do sports and join clubs
