Three Moses Lake Schools Recognized by State for Student Growth and Closing Opportunity Gaps

Three Moses Lake School District schools have been recognized by the Washington School Recognition Program for the 2024–25 school year, an honor awarded to approximately 16% of schools statewide.
Midway Elementary, Sage Point Elementary, and Vanguard Academy were each recognized for demonstrating exceptional progress in key areas of student success, particularly among specific student groups.
Midway Elementary earned recognition in the Closing Gaps category for its work supporting English language learners. Schools receiving this designation have demonstrated meaningful improvement after being identified for additional support, showing measurable gains while reducing disparities in student outcomes.
Sage Point Elementary was recognized in the Growth category for English language learners, reflecting some of the largest gains in the state across multiple measures.
Vanguard Academy also earned recognition in the Growth category, specifically for students in one or more racial or ethnic groups, highlighting significant academic progress while narrowing opportunity gaps.
The Washington School Recognition Program, led by the State Board of Education in partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, highlights schools making meaningful progress in supporting student success across Washington.
As part of the recognition, each honored school will receive a banner to display on campus. These banners are distributed in partnership with regional educational service districts and serve as a visible symbol of student achievement and growth.
District leaders say the recognition aligns closely with Moses Lake School District’s ongoing focus on improving outcomes for all students while ensuring equity remains central to that work.
