Chromebook Best Practices

  • Carry Chromebooks with two hands. Lids shall remain closed when carrying

  • Students should check for damage to Chromebooks each time they are checked out. This includes any scratches, marks on the computer, broken parts, removal of stickers or screw covers, etc.

    • Do not place books or other items on top of the device. If you are stacking Chromebooks, do not place more than 5 on top of each other.
    • No food or drinks allowed around the device.
    • Students must only use the device assigned to them. Do not let other students use or borrow the device unless directed by the teacher or staff.
    • Never leave a Chromebook unattended.
  • Students are not allowed to change any device settings without the teacher’s permission. This includes: display, keyboard, touchpad, etc…

    Students must log in using only their @mlsdk12.org account.

    Only use the device for school work. These are for educational purposes only!

    Students are not allowed to install Chrome web apps or extensions without permission from a teacher or staff member.

    Use your Chromebook on a flat surface.

    Students are not to move/push/transport Chromecarts without adult supervision.

  • Students/Staff have no expectation of confidentiality or privacy regarding the use of any district technology. The district may, without prior notice or consent, log, supervise, access, view, monitor, and record use of student technology at any time for any reason related to the operation of the Moses Lake School District.

    Cyberbullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + ? (or Ctrl +Alt + /) to open a keyboard shortcut cheat sheet at any time.

  • You can sign out when you’re done using your Chromebook.

    1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
    2. Select Power Power button icon and then icon Sign out Sign out icon.
      • If there's no "Sign out," select Power Power button icon and then icon Shut down Power button icon or Restart Restart icon.
