Moses Lake School District Names Sara Richards Principal of Knolls Vista Elementary

MOSES LAKE, WA – After a rigorous search and interview process, Moses Lake School District has selected Sara Richards as the new principal of Knolls Vista Elementary School.
Richards has served as interim principal at Knolls Vista throughout the 2025-26 school year, providing leadership for students, staff, and families while helping guide the school through a year of continued growth and achievement.
A longtime educator and administrator in the district, Richards previously served as assistant principal at Frontier Middle School and taught at both Columbia Middle School and Endeavor Middle School. She brings more than a decade of educational experience, including leadership in instructional support, school culture, staff development, student services, and community engagement.
Richards earned her administrative certification from Central Washington University and holds a master's degree in teaching from Heritage University.
"I am honored and excited to continue serving the Knolls Vista community," Richards said. "This school has an incredible staff, amazing students, and supportive families. I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and continuing our work together to help every student learn, grow, and succeed."
Chris Kalmbach, assistant executive director of elementary teaching & learning, said Richards has demonstrated the leadership qualities needed to continue moving Knolls Vista forward.

Her dedication to the students and staff at Knolls Vista is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to her leadership,” said Kalmbach. “She has led with a high level of integrity and humility that makes her an excellent choice to continue leading Knolls Vista"
Prior to her work in school administration, Richards helped develop international student exchange opportunities through Bridges International, working with community leaders and educational partners throughout Grant County.
Richards will officially assume the permanent principal role effective July 1, 2026.
