Moses Lake Schools to Participate in Statewide Healthy Youth Survey This Fall

Moses Lake, WA – This fall, Moses Lake School District students will participate in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) — a statewide effort that helps schools, communities, and state agencies better understand the health and well-being of young people.
Students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 will be invited to take the survey. Smaller school districts may include grades 6–12. The Healthy Youth Survey has been conducted across Washington since 2002, with more than 215,000 students participating each year.
The anonymous survey includes questions about physical activity, safety, mental health, relationships, substance use, and access to school-based services. Students may also see questions about topics such as health education, community connectedness, and overall well-being.
Participation in the survey is voluntary, and steps are taken to protect each student’s privacy. No names are collected, and there are no codes or links that identify individual students. Students may choose to skip questions or stop the survey at any time. Those who do not participate will take part in another quiet activity, such as reading or studying.
Survey results are compiled and shared with schools and communities across Washington to help guide programs, secure funding, and develop strategies that support student safety, health, and success. Results for schools, counties, and the state are publicly available at the Healthy Youth Survey website.
The Healthy Youth Survey is a collaboration among the Washington State Health Care Authority – Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, the Department of Health, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.
